Strive PR appoints junior account executive
Douglas, Isle Of Man - 13 November 2007 - Strive Public Relations has promoted Joanne Connor to the position of junior account executive, it was announced today.
After graduating from Leeds Metropolitan University with a degree in Media and Popular Culture in July, Joanne joined the Strive team as an account assistant, but her hard work has resulted in her quick promotion to a role with more responsibility.
"Almost immediately Joanne proved to be a great asset to our team and as a quick study and hard worker, it wasn't long before she earned a promotion," said Sherrilynne Starkie, managing partner at Strive Public Relations. "Our goal is to grow the company as a meritocracy, and Joanne's promotion perfectly demonstrates our commitment to building a strong team by rewarding talent and ability."
"I was delighted on getting the job at Strive PR and even more so after being given the promotion. I have learned a lot in such a small space of time, and I am grateful to be part of such a dynamic and friendly team," said Joanne Connor "With this new role comes more opportunity, something I am extremely excited about."
Joanne provides support across a number of accounts and her duties include writing, media liaison and research among others. Since taking the role of junior account executive, Joanne has also been taking a more active role in the Strive Notes, the company blog, by writing a weekly list of her favourite five blogs posts.
Strive Public Relations was established in 2006 to provide the island's technology sector with strategic communications counsel and services. Since that time, the company has gone from strength to strength building a solid client base covering both tech and non-tech, public and private sector organisations both on and off the Island.

Strive Public Relations partner accredited by DTI
Douglas, Isle Of Man - 08 May 07 - The managing partner of Strive Public Relations, Sherrilynne Starkie, has been granted accreditation as a project consultant under the Isle of Man Department of Trade and Industry's (DTI) Business Support Scheme (BSS), it was announced today.
The announcement means that many Isle of Man businesses in the technology, manufacturing and selected other industries could be eligible for financial assistance for public relations, marketing communications or other marketing-related projects undertaken by Sherrilynne. Under the terms of the scheme, the DTI will pay 50 per cent of the total cost of the project to a maximum of £4,500 assistance.
"Since we launched Strive PR's technology-focused practice on the Isle of Man just over a year ago, response has been extremely positive. Our on island client list includes web hosting, web design, finance and technology consulting companies," said Sherrilynne Starkie.
"Along the way, we've met with a number of technology and manufacturing companies that would benefit from employing proactive PR to achieve their business goals, but might need some assistance to get started. That's why I sought BSS accreditation. It's an ideal solution for these growing Isle of Man businesses."
The BSS was introduced as a government advisory service in 1992 to provide expert consultancy, initially in quality standards, and latterly in business disciplines such as business planning, marketing, financial management controls and training and development.
Following the successful completion of Sherrilynne's first BSS project her provisional accreditation will be upgraded to full accreditation. She is also a full member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) and an associate member of the British Computer Society (BCS).
"Successful companies know that getting their communications right delivers them measurable, bottom line benefits. The DTI's BSS scheme puts expert advice within reach for many companies who might not otherwise be able to afford it," explained Sherrilynne. "At Strive we support organisations in achieving their goals by helping them build strong relationships with the people their success depends upon."

Strive Public Relations delivers affordable
PR for Isle of Man SMEs
Douglas, Isle Of Man - 04 September 2006 - Strive Public Relations puts world-class marketing communications within reach for Isle of Man SMEs, with a new service launched today.
PR service, StriveOnCall is an option for companies that may not need a PR agency all the time, but would benefit from having access to expert help.
Strive Public Relations Managing Partner Sherrilynne Starkie said, "StriveOnCall means a senior Strive partner is always just a phone call away; whether it is to brainstorm ideas, to give an unbiased opinion on marketing initiatives, or to provide counsel in a crisis. It gives an immediate, but highly cost-effective, boost to in-house skills."
Isle of Man businesses participated in interviews and discussions earlier this year with Strive representatives. The data revealed a real need among SMEs for sophisticated marketing communications expertise, but highlighted that the cost of traditional agency retainers put these services out of reach for many. StriveOnCall is the resulting service innovation designed to fill the gap.
PR agency agreements conventionally require a long-term commitment and a significant financial investment every month. This is fine for major projects and when the agency fulfils an ongoing need. But many companies require only occasional support.
StriveOnCall involves a small, one-off subscription that provides many services including:
- A strategy workshop
- Message development
- Market intelligence
- Reactive media relations
- Media coaching
- Ongoing strategic counsel
- Other ad-hoc services
Strive Public Relations is a virtual communications consultancy that consolidates a team of very senior UK and North American-based communications professionals, editors and journalists, each of whom has worked independently for more than 10 years. Together, Strive offers broad industry experience, a comprehensive range of skills and an international track record.
Strive Public Relations' international team is comprised of professionals from Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States and New Zealand. The company has operations in: Cambridge, London, Oxford, Ottawa, New York and Washington DC. The company is headquartered in Douglas, Isle of Man.
Isle of Man-based consultant Sherrilynne Starkie says, "Getting communications right delivers measurable, bottom line benefits including increased sales, lower costs and better deals. Now, StriveOnCall delivers a low-risk way for companies to add strategic public relations into their marketing strategies."
